Hand-woven in South Derry near the sacred waters of Lough Neagh, this is a pre-Christian Solar Wheel made from ~30 freshly harvested Irish rushes.
As a living material, these green rushes gracefully shrink and transform into a golden beige as they dry, mirroring the sun’s journey. Woven for Imbolc, this wheel honours the Goddess Brigid and the "milking of the ewes" as spring awakens. It is a protective shield for the hearth, carrying the DNA memory of Mid Ulster.
